You know the score at RTP, we’re here to show you the best slots and casinos you can find online. Sometimes though, we fuse those goals, highlighting a selection of player favourites from one of our featured brands. In this blog, we will be doing just that, with our top Pots of Luck slots, a guide to the most popular and acclaimed titles offered by this Irish-themed casino.
Cleopatra
Let’s start with a title that can only be described as a certified classic, Cleopatra. If you’ve never heard the name before, it is iconic on two counts; firstly, for the ancient queen of Egypt, who’s beauty became the stuff of legend and, secondly, for the slot machine that took the gaming world by storm. The game itself is based on the historic ruler and contains a myriad of images and characters that are culturally significant. This is most obvious when you look at the symbols, with things like the Lotus Flower, Scarab Beetle, and Eye of Horus, all of which are hugely prevalent in Egyptian mythology. Of course, while these thematic qualities are a great addition, they’re not the only reason for its success.
There isn’t an abundance of bonuses in this game, which may come as a surprise, considering its popularity. However, instead of stuffing the slot with a load of features that aren’t that good, developer IGT has chosen to focus on a couple of really engaging ones. The first is the wild, which will do the usual job of substituting for any other symbols to form wins, but also boasts some other effects that could give a nice boost to your winnings. Land a five-of-a-kind win of them, and you’ll net yourself a juicy payout of 10,000 coins. On top of that, any wins you form involving the wild will be subject to a 2x multiplier. There’s also a free spins round, which is triggered by landing three or more of the scatter symbol. It’s pretty simple; you’ll get 15 spins, with the possibility of re-triggering up to 180 more, plus any wins for the duration of the round will have a 3x multiplier applied. It’s not complex stuff, but the simple mechanism has the potential to award some pretty big payouts.
Pirates Plenty Battle for Gold
From one period of history to another, we’re swapping pyramids and sandy dunes for the high seas with this next entry. Pirates Plenty Battle for Gold is a Red Tiger Gaming slot that is based on the scurvy renegades that prowled the oceans centuries ago. Unlike the last game we looked at, this is quite a contemporary title and has all the bells and whistles you’d expect. From its cutting-edge display, which sees a crisp, fleshed-out depiction of a pirate’s galleon, to the feature animations, everything here is rendered in wonderful detail. Symbols include cutlasses, flintlock pistols, and the iconic skull and crossbones. There is also a plethora of theme-related visuals on display, such as piles of gold coins and the swaying sails of the ship. On top of all these aesthetic feasts though, there are also a few quality bonuses.
The first of these is the Wild Island Reel, which is triggered by landing the map icon enough times to fill a metre above the reels. Once unlocked, you’ll get an extra reel to play on, which will increase the number of ways to win by 10, for a total of thirty. After that, you have the Wild Monkey, which is a randomly triggered bonus that will remove all lower-value symbols from play, before a re-spin ensues. If the Monkey collects one of each playing card suit, any wins from the bonus will have a 4x multiplier applied. Finally, there is the Battle Spins round, which is triggered by landing three scatter symbols in a single spin. You’ll get several spins and maybe a few sticky wilds too if you’re lucky. Land fire symbols during this round and the cannons will shoot at multiple reel positions on the board, turning them wild. There’s also a chance Captain Blackbeard will show up on the reels, throwing bombs as he does, which can award more spins and sticky wilds.
Thor’s Lightning
We’re regular time travellers here, as it’s yet another historical slot on this list. This time though, there’s a sprinkling of mythology added in too, as this game is based upon the Norse god of lightning himself, Thor. This is the second Red Tiger Gaming title on this list and, like the previous one, it’s visually spectacular. The reel set is rather unique, with a 7×7 board made up of runic symbols. You will have to land clusters of these symbols to form wins. There are also several animations, both for bonuses and the introductory sequences, that are stunning to watch, such as the bonus where Thor rains lightning down onto the reels. Speaking of bonuses, there are quite a few to get through here.
Let’s start with the lightning strike, which can trigger randomly on any spin. Thor will strike the reels with a bolt of lightning, which will either remove all low-value icons from the board or form a winning cluster for you. There’s also another randomly triggered one, Thor’s Hammer, which will nudge or remove a symbol to make a cluster win. Red Tiger Gaming has also included two free spin rounds; Valhalla, and Muspell spins. Both of these are triggered by landing enough clusters in the centre to reveal the game’s logo. Valhalla Spins will see the reels filled with blank positions and Golden Shields, with the latter revealing multipliers for your winnings at the end of the round. The Muspell spins will introduce a new reel set with no lower-value symbols in play, plus you may randomly see another symbol type removed, or an instant win formed for you on certain spins.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Megaways
We finish with a slot based on one of the most beloved quiz shows of all time; Who Wants to Be a Millionaire! For those that haven’t seen this iconic series, it sees hopeful contestants take on general knowledge questions of increasing difficulty as they try to win that all-important £1million prize. If you’re a fan of the show, Big Time Gaming’s authentic recreation will no doubt delight you, as both the gameplay and visuals are heavily influenced by the original series. The reels are set in the studio itself, with the centre stage and audience visible in the backdrop. That’s not the only positive in this game though, as there are several potentially rewarding features.
This game runs on the Megaways engine, which significantly changes the way it plays compared to a standard slot. This is because it offers a different number of ways to win on each spin and does this by modifying how many symbols can land at any one time. The highest it can reach is a whopping 117,649 ways to win, so there’s an obvious increase in winning potential. Also, this game benefits from the Reactions Wins mechanic, which will replace any symbols involved in a winning combination with new ones, possibly forming new combinations in the process. The last bonus is the Hot Seat feature, which essentially replicates the quiz show format on the reels. It is triggered by landing at least three scatter symbols, and will take you to a ladder minigame. Here, you will have to complete a serious of gambles that are styled as multiple-choice questions, with A, B, C, or D being the correct answer. Like the show, you will get three lifelines that can reduce the number of options, thus narrowing down the correct choice. It’s an interesting take on the show’s format, one which can reward you with a nice payout, if you’re lucky.
